I read to join the air force you have to have 20/20 vision but i don’t have 20/20 vision I have glasses and each lens is 1.75 each. I can see perfectly fine up close but from faraway i cant see. I was wondering if there i way i can fix this with out laser eye surgery because the air force won’t let someone in with the surgery.

Iv been talking to recruiters and they informed me that if i had eye surgery i would have to wait a year before i could even enlist. I was wondering if i got it done anyways and didn’t tell them about it, what’s the chance they would find out during MEPS inspection or anything like that? The job i want requires 20/20 vision and i dont want to have to wait a whole year before even enlisting. If anyone has any information on how much they look into that itd be appreciated. Thank you.
My prescription on my contact lenses is +1.50 BC (Base curve) is 8.6 Dia is 14.2. I am 18 and my prescription hasn’t changed since I was 15. I have a healthy cornea and good eye healthy. I have a mild left lazy eye.
From this information could you tell me if I could qualify to have laser eye surgery. I know more things need to be considered but from this information could I be a worthy patient of laser eye surgery just so i know whether i could consider it.?

this might sound reeeeally stupid to some but I was just curious. Do they cut your eye at all? What happens during this surgery?
I have a small chalazion- similar to a stye- under my left eye, and I found out that I’m getting a small surgery to drain it out. The doctor said its a small incision for a few minutes- maybe he was exaggerating- and he said I won’t feel anything. Specifically, do you get numbed and does it make you not feel a thing at all as if you were asleep? Or are your eyes closed during the surgery?
